Blackrocklab is a newly developed civil engineering firm founded by a young engineer, which operate across the whole of South Africa, the company was established in 2016.Blackrocklab has satellite office in Northern Cape and head office in Pretoria. Blackrocklab is a newly found civil engineering laboratory, with close to 10 staff within the group, including Technologists, Technicians, skilled and semi-skilled personnel in South Africa, and its solid experience has given Blackrocklab a desirable reputation for technical excellence in engineering services which include: laboratory testing, materials survey services geotechnics, roads, sewer, surveying and structures. The company is to build its reputation through providing clients with comprehensive, cost effective service and often innovative solutions to their technical needs.
The Geotechnical Division of Blackrocklab offers a full range of geotechnical testing services ranging from Building and road centreline investigation we also offer highly specialized testing carried out at our Laboratory. The company is also involved with major geotechnical and soils investigations and materials surveys.
Blackrocklab offers the full range of tests required for the Civil Engineering environment as far as soils and gravels are concerned. This includes tests on aggregate ranging from basic sieve analysis tests to highly sophisticated tests such as the durability mill index tests as well as stabilization designs including chemical and bitumen stabilizations.
Blackrocklab offers the full range of concrete testing and concrete related services including concrete mix designs. Backrocklab have experience in concrete construction projects requiring state of the art concrete mix design technologies and innovative experiments on different mix design approaches. Blackrocklab also carry out tests on cement and cement related products.
Blackrock offers a field testing service consisting of several field teams conducting onsite testing and sampling such as density testing and DCP testing. The company furthermore provides services to carry out small to very large soil and geotechnical investigations including, sampling, profiling, testing and reporting.
Blackrocklab is currently on its operational and marketing state which involves tendering and partnership for service providing. The laboratory personnel have vast of experience from major projects within South Africa, including quality, proficiency and acceptance control laboratory testing such as asphalt, soils and concrete on major construction sites as well as major soils investigations projects on water pipelines and several roads related contracts. Blackrocklab personnel are equipped to providing on-site testing facilities within South Africa. The company is therefore familiar with all the requirements and methodologies to provide these services for the construction industry. This includes the strict OHS (Occupation health and safety) requirements as per the construction sector regulations.

Health and safety
Blackrocklab (pty) ltd recognizes the importance of Health and Safety and the safe execution of works.
As such we commit ourselves in using contractors who have a good track record in this regard. Blackrocklab (pty) ltd is committed to
maintaining a safe working environment both in-house and on projects where we are involved. To this end we have in our employ SHE representative.
They are responsible, on a daily basis, for auditing and overseeing compliance of contractors and Blackrocklab (pty) ltd site staff themselves on
the numerous sites are responsible for construction supervision. Their duties include preparing the health and safety file, to oversee the site
works and to be responsible for the Safety and Health of its employees and are the lead initiator of measures to safeguard the environment.
Community and industry future vision development commitments
Our company is totally committed of fulfilling the high technical
standards within the civil engineering materials field and therefore will have to give back to the community of operation in termers of development
based on the project value. This includes training of our society to get recognition in the industry, employment of student in need of experiential training.
From a social standing, we feel strongly about poverty alleviation and assist with developing our society to a better one for all.
Key staff
As a company we also have an affirmative policy and believe that quality comes
from sharing ownership through marginalized individuals, this made Blackrocklab to be 100% owed by black. Blackrocklab is managed by various key staff.
Detailed CV’s for the below and other key staff can be provided upon request. The team is supported by technical staff and administrative staff and will be
dedicated to a project in order to ensure that the work is completed within the envisaged program.
